Thank you to the Society for the invitation, my hard working stewards on the day and exhibitors for a lovely entry of 113 which I think gave me a good overall cross section of the breed.

I was more than pleased with all of my winners and beyond in more than a few classes. With several exhibitors producing a consistent type and quality that makes an appointment like this a pleasure to judge and would have been more than happy to award more than one set of CC’s.

Several promising puppies and youngsters up and coming which must bode well for the breed. My limit and Open classes in both sexes were well filled and a pleasure to judge.

Veteran Dog (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: COXON Ch Distinctly So D'Arisca. A shaded red that excels in front assembly, he has a lovely head, bone and feet, ribbed well back and moving out well off a good back end.
2nd: STEWART Stargang Tyrion Russtec. Red brindle shown in good order he had a good head bone and feet a shade narrower in front than the winner and moved well off his rear end

Minor Puppy Dog (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: SHUTT Debbiejay Chasing Dreams for Donnadoon. A B/T with everything to like he has a good head, neck and front assembly he held his topline well on the move for a baby puppy and moved off a good back end, just needs to settle in front but then he is only a baby.
2nd: WOODS Bronia Palladio. Another nicely made B/T again possessing the essentials in head, body properties, front assembly and ribbing just not as forward as the winner today and he moved ok.
3rd: HUNT Carpaccio Red Rock

Puppy Dog (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st:  PAGET & CARROLL Marvale Red Cardinal. A striking young red, loved his head, excelling in his front assembly he has good bone and feet, he is ribbed well, holds his topline on the move which was true and positive one I’m sure will have a bright future.

2nd:  JENNINGS Marvale Northern Cardinal at Jenivon, I see from the catalogue he is litter brother to the winner and similar remarks apply though I did prefer the slightly more refined head and overall body properties of his brother.
3rd:  SCOINS Hayvenhund Eager Beaver.
Res:  SCOINS Hayvenhund Encore.

Junior Dog (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st:  MASON Teckeltown Master Piece.A stylish young red, lovely eye and earset, good ribbing which extends back well and gives a lovely picture on the move which he does with a purpose.
2nd: MAGRI Bronia Cellini Rozamie. I liked this well made B/T he just needs to make a bit more of himself, again he has all the essentials with a good shaped head and everything about him fitting well, ribbing, depth well angled both ends and standing on good bone and feet just lost out to winner on his more positive movement.
3rd: CHARLESWORTH Keydax Sensation
Res: JENNINGS Marvale Royal Affair

Yearling Dog (1 Entry) Abs: 0
1st: COXON D'Arisca Drives a Daimler. B/T at what was probably one of his first shows, he stood alone which can always over awe a youngster with no real time to settle into his job, he had lots to like about him in head and his overall body properties when he did settle you could see positive and stylish movement.

Post Graduate Dog (4 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: BAND & MCCARTHY Carpaccio Red Alert for Essandsee. Super fronted red with good ribbing, nice head, eye and earset holding a good topline on the move.
2nd: FRANCIS Stargang Hay Bob at Feebrick. I liked this well made red not doing himself any favours here today and gave his handler a hard time, again he has all the essentials just needs to settle and put his mind on his job.
3rd: RUDKIN Dynastydax Tarquin
Res: SCOINS Hayvenhund Braveheart

Limit Dog (6 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: WILLIAMS & MOES Cwmdarhian Jesse James. A striking red that gave an imposing picture both on the stack and on the move, I liked his head and eye giving him a true dachshund look about him, well bodied and ribbed and standing on good legs and feet, holding his shape well moving I will watch his career with interest.
2nd: MASON Teckeltown Something Magic JW. B/T not quite the head or overall balance of the winner but nicely made standing on good legs and feet moved well off his rear end, would like a touch more width coming towards.
3rd: Ayseebee Look Who's Talking to Ravenwood
Res: JENNINGS Duddondaxs Judge Jude for Jenivon

Open Dog (11 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: BLACKBURN BENNETT Stargang Barracuda. A red with the style and type that holds great appeal, he has a true Dachshund head and expression, good strong neck, super bone and feet, forechest and keel, he is ribbed well back and giving a lovely picture both standing and on the move pleased to award him the CC with B.O.B later in the day, I was told later was his 3rd
2nd: ERGIS Ch Siouxline Jacob JW. another lovely red that has all the essentials, again so well constructed and he moved with purpose and style and was as sound as they come both coming and going RCC
3rd: MOES & WILLIAMS Gelijams Russian Sun for Cwmdarhian
Res: KENT Lokmadi Sand Dollar
VHC: GENTLE Dimogen Stargazer

Veteran Bitch (3 Entries) Abs : 0
1st: ERGIS Ch Siouxline Rapunzel with Melriding, The first word of my critique in my judging book on her was Stunning !!! she was one of the first bitches to be judged today and set a high benchmark for the rest of the day and could not be denied the CC over what I thought was a super line up of bitches at the end, pleased to watch her win BVIS and a few weeks later I see she won the RBCC at Crufts.
2nd:CROSS Stargang Sansa. A lovely red of over 10 years old just showing a bit of her age today again she is well made all through with good head properties, lovely front, depth and body and moved well.
3rd: BULLINGHAM Bowetts Aventurine

Minor Puppy Bitch (13 Entries)  Abs : 2
1st:  MELBOURNE, PAGET & CARROLL Shantallah Adelaide. When you judge it is always a great pleasure to be able to find an exciting puppy at one of it’s first shows and this puppy for me was exciting and filled my eye, I loved everything about her and she moved with much style for such a baby and was my BPIB over the lovely dog pup from the same kennel which seems to consistently produce some top quality Dachshunds I would think she will make up easily, pleased to watch her win RBPIS.
2nd: HUNT Carpaccio Red Crystal. Another lovely puppy not as mature as the winner in body or movement, she has a lovely make and shape but not really wanting to cooperate today.
3rd:  FAIRCHILD Ardenrun Black Velvet
Res: KENT Lokmadi Glorious Twelfth
VHC: CROSS Lillia Shadow Seeker Loggeta

Puppy Bitch (6 Entries)
1st:  RUDKIN Dynastydax Alfreda. B/T  super puppy that again holds great appeal, she has everything to like about her, a good head lovely bone and feet, ribbing, topline both on the move and standing and moved out with style and confidence.
2nd:  COROMINAS Victoria De Los Olivos De Quinto. A B/T built on a slightly smaller frame but with everything in place and lots to like, I liked her head and expression and again she moved out with purpose and style.
3rd:  MASON Collidach Hot Springs
Res:  COOTE Andeysson Cape Verde
VHC: JENNINGS Jenivons Red Robin

Junior Bitch (6 Entries) Abs: 0
1st:  ROBERTS & SMITH. Sonorra Ginger Snap for Rayol. This red bitch attracted me as soon as she entered the ring on looking at her breeding I can see why, she holds great appeal with her head properties and true dachshund expression, lovely make and shape true front assembly, well ribbed and coupled, again moving with style off a good rear end she should have a bright future.
2nd: BEACH Beachdax Queen of Hearts. A B/T that was very close up to one and will change places many times, similar remarks apply just my preference of head type on the day being the deciding factor.
3rd:  MAGRI Boadacea Be Creative with Rozamie
Res:  RUDKIN Dynastydax Anastasia

VHC: FORGE Normpug Red Flame

Yearling Bitch (9 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: MELBOURNE, CARROLL & PAGET Melriding Chanson Roland. A B/T another presented by this exhibitor in great form, she has a lovely front assembly, super bone and feet, she was well ribbed, super back end and sound, stylish and purposeful on the move.
2nd: RUDKIN Dynastydax Wilma. A good headed B/T and was of a slightly different make and shape to the winner being a bit more on the leg and rangier, she was sound and moved well.
3rd: MAGRI Rayol Rejoice with Rozamie
Res: JENNINGS Jenivons Miss Muffin
VHC: FORGE Normpug Red Flame

Post Graduate Bitch (14 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: MASON Teckeltown Lady in Red. A shaded red that holds appeal both in make and shape and overall type, she possesses a good head was well ribbed, bodied and coupled, well angled both ends and moved out soundly.
2nd: BEER Stargang Candy Stripes at Lowrider. A lovely headed red brindle again she has all the essentials in her body properties, she is ound both ways and moves well but just needs to make a bit more of herself.
3rd: CHARLESWORTH Keydax Queen Bee

Res: MITCHELL  Energy Elegance Ferrari at Dubrey (Imp Rus)
VHC: COROMINAS Luna Nueva De Los Olivos De Quinto

Limit Bitch (16 Entries) Abs: 4
1st: WILLIAMS & MOES Cwmdarhian Ginger Snap. A red that held great appeal to me for her overall type and quality, I loved her head, her overall make and shape and she excelled in her front assembly, she stood on good legs and feet with her ribbing, topline, couplings and rear angles all correct, she moved out well and was in close contention for top honours, she is still young and didn’t quite have the finish and maturity of my BCC & RBCC winners today.
2nd: BLACKBURN BENNETT Stargang Song of Ice N’Fire. A lovely B/T of super type and construction very close up to the winner and they will change places many times, just showing a bit of undercarriage today and losing her underline.
3rd: CARROLL & PAGET Clentry Camilla at Marvale
Res: KENT Lokmadi with a Dragon Tattoo
VHC: MASONS Teckeltown You're the One

Open Bitch (11 Entries) Abs: 5
1st: BLACKBURN BENNETT Ch Stargang Cherry Berry. A super red that again holds great appeal in all departments, I loved everything about her and just lost to the veteran bitch who was on super form today RCC.
2nd: ERGIS Siouxline Rachel. A lovely B/T bitch again consistent of the type shown by this kennel, she has everything about her to like and of a type that holds great appeal, she just seemed to tense up a bit at the end and spoiling her lovely outline.
3rd: CALLOW Ch Garthorne Grace Kelly
Res: ROSE Ardenrun Foolish Whisper at Rosencantz
